Ozone Therapy… what is it?
Ozone is a nonpharmacologic therapy used to treat a multitude of conditions. Ozone is a gas that is generated from oxygen and has been used successfully for over 50 years in Europe. Think of it as putting fresh batteries in a dimming flashlight. When administered to the human body, the benefits are nothing short of remarkable!
Some of these benefits include:
• improved immune function
• antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties
• pain relief
• brain tissue regeneration
• cardiovascular healing
Why do I need it?
Oxygen is the single most important molecule utilized by the human body. To put it bluntly, try holding your breath for ten minutes. You can’t do it, can you? Now, hold off on taking a sip of water or a bite of your afternoon snack for ten minutes. Not as big of a deal, right?
Oxygen is essential for life and is constantly consumed by every single cell in your body. When our cells aren’t able to utilize this oxygen efficiently, you begin to see the negative effects. When oxygen is continuously under-utilized, disease occurs through the formation of free radicals and decreased antioxidant use. Ozone is effective in treating chronic infections such as shingles, autoimmune conditions, digestive conditions such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, managing diabetes, adjunct cancer treatment, and ailments of aging.
How is it administered?
For as big of a deal as ozone is, it’s really not a hard process and all you have to do is sit back and relax. An ozone-trained nurse will start your IV and drain a small amount of your blood into a sterile saline bag based on your individualized dose. Ozone is then put into the bag with your blood and turns it a vibrant, healthy bright red (gotta love science)! Last but certainly not least, we will give the ozone-treated blood back to you and watch you walk out feeling the benefits of ozone therapy!
